The formal comment period for the Draft PEIS ended in May 2005; however, there will be a public comment period for the Final PEIS once it is released for public review. All comments on the Draft PEIS have been reviewed; however, formal responses to comments on the Draft PEIS will not be completed until the Collaborative Effort team reaches consensus on a recommended alternative.
During the Draft PEIS comment review period, 766 individual comments were received from the public; municipal, county, state, and federal agencies; and associations or special interest groups. Comments represent statements from individuals that were received online through the project website; through letters, phone records, and email messages; from transcripts of public hearings; and from comment sheets handed out at public hearings. All comments were read, evaluated, and reviewed for discrete issues that related to a particular concern, resource consideration, or project alternative (referred to as a “concern”). The content and reasoning of each concern were reviewed to identify substantive concerns. Each substantive concern was then categorized by alternative, topic, and sub-topic. More information is provided on this approach when you enter the Draft PEIS Public Comments database (see link below). After being categorized, the comments received on the Draft PEIS were organized into common concern statements. Some comments will require specific responses separate from common concern statements. Access to all public and agency comments on the Draft PEIS, as well as common concern statements, is available in the Draft PEIS Public Comments database. |
